Advertising Sins

Advertising is expanding, literally, on the message boards. One ad is for dog food, an expanding ad that grows bigger and bigger to include a dog giving an interview. The word "Poop" is repeated over and over as if the word was intrinsically funny. Do you figure advertising is inherently anal?

I do have to wonder sometimes about people  who make some of the adverts we see today ~ I am sure they come from another planet ~ Ally

I think advertising thinks we are dumber than we are.

Betty! Yeah, they sure think we're dumb.
For that reason, perhaps, they bypass
intelligence and appeal to baser instincts and
proclivities. We get our revenge, indirectly,
when there's a recession as has happened, many
times and not so long ago, and
oodles of times before that, ad agencies laid off 1,000
or more empoyees in just one day as I remember
happening in NY.  Advertising failures outnumber
successes I believe. Didn't help American auto makers
ha ha ha ha ha: in that case we did, DID get smart and
tend to purchase the more durable and prettier vehicle.
compare a Toyota 330 Lexus with an ugly clunking
GMC monstrosity SUV.
