Broke, crashed

How wonderful 'Broke' has 'Crashed!' I KNEW it couldn't, not in religious America where women are almost respected equals, could not win with a story about two illiterate, slow, boring hicks who mistreat their women and get away with it as entertainment!

Now I gotta run to catch CAPOTE and CRASH.

very well put, Barry. I didn't see any of the movies nominated so I can't really comment on quality of them, but anxious to see Crash now

Betty! Thanks for Comment! We've been in
agreement on some things!  Movie critic for
the LA Times, Kenneth Turan, accuses The
Academy, in their voting, of being Homophobic.
That's the canard many have throne at me in
my denigration of Brokeback Mountain. The truth
is, it doesn't stand up as drama, not at all. To
prove myself on that point I intend in advance
to find CAPOTE the movie quite splendid.
Truman Capote, it is authoritatively reported by
a reliable source, in my mind anyway, The New
Yorker, had sex with one of the murderers, in
the condemned man's cell, shortly before the killer was
hanged in Kansas for the murder of the clutter family.
Surely, if I was "homophobic" this would be
evidence enough to damn Capote to hell. But
I have nothing but sympathy and enormous admiration
for Capote's search for the truth, in life and in
himself. Capote did everything in his powers as an
investigator to tell the truth in his book In Cold Blood
which is the primary plot of the movie, CAPOTE.
Additionally, from the clips I've seen, Hoffman,
playing Capote, gave a fabulous performance.
