Finally getting to read a many-months-old Alumni magazine. I'm intrigued to know that research on human aging continues apace, and, sort of related, music can, and does, relieve anxiety about one's life. Less anxiety, longer life, wouldn't you say? Ha!
Here's a short cut: folk wisdom is correct; life expectancy (longevity) is partly genetic. Lab experiments with other life forms substantiates what has already been observed about people. Scientists are also wrestling with the question, 'Why does minimal intake of food, especially later in life, with all-nutritious food intake, prolong life?' That too involves genes and their functions.
Tchaikovsky wrote, "Without music I'd go insane." Apparently he knew a thing or two. Music is therapeutic. Think I'll listen to it more often. For some bloggers writing is 'music,' probably, and not only makes them feel better, but extends their life span. But we already knew all this stuff, right?

Writing a blog? Still to 'paranoid' to try it. But reading them is really, really addictive fun!
Kater I now dedicate myself to
persuading you to open a blog.
I'm embarrassed to admit I
thought you already had a journal.
(I'm sloppy about collecting blog
site Links.) There are lots of blogs
I'd like to read but can't find them.
Some have gone underground into
secret, sealing, airtight, hygenized
pure space for their elevated prose
disclosures. Whatever happened to
pixiedustnme?! She must have the
exterminator come to her house every day
while she's away. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ahhhhhh.......
Anyone who refers to her second husband as
"The Idiot" positivily, definately, definitively,
by-the-book, taking responsibility for nothing!

Did you know that listening to the Backstreet Boys can actually add 10 years to your life??

What a relief! Thanks for the good news! My son Patrick, now
nearly six, when he was much younger used to walk/dance/prance
in circles, alone, while the Backstreet Boys played on the CD player.
This happened only when he was in his mother's bedroom. While
that went on I was kinda banned. What was it? a Corroberee? A
ritual from his earlier genetic existence? 'I was worried,' to use the lingo
of one of my creditors. But years passed and he's emerged into the
21st Century. (I didn't murmur even one word of protest 'cause movement,
any movement, to music is good. My only question was why only to the Backstreet Boys??) I feel you might have the answer to this riddle.

I know writing prolongs life, mine certainly seems to,especially as i seem to be dribbling forever, lol,is it in my genes?I think so,my mother wrote stories for children and if published, would probably be enjoying a tidy retirement, she paints too,but feels her work is not of high standard, she obviously hasnt seen,'the scream',my son could paint that and its worth loads, each to their own i guess,id love to write for a living but im gramatically challenged and far too rebellious,by the time i had been censored theyd be nothing left lol.xxzoexx

of course we can resume where we left off; I've been trying to catch up with journals as I move in to life in Southern California; the fast lane once again. (We were previously in Montana for eight years). The guy who moved us said he has learned over the years everyone ends up moving back home (area they grew up); he decided to stay put from where he grew up and now he moves others here and there. So we came home (grew up in San Diego area).
I read in a fiction book one time that was a story about someone on death row and a relative's interactions with them (I can't remember the name of the book right now) that a few days before someone was to die the guards would not allow any music to be played on radios, etc because of the emotions music can bring out in a person. Music can be comforting, uplifting, soul searching, downright awful (rap music) and glorifying to the Lord. If it extends our life, that's a good thing too.
enjoy,

Wow, if that's true, then I should live to be reeeaaallly old..lol!
Interesting though, although I think the Backstreet Boys have TAKEN far too many years from me already..;-) (Joke...they're kinda ok sometimes..lol!)
