Arab Wars

CNN comes into its own in time of war. So much is happening in the Middle East, and happening so fast CNN has far fewer repeat broadcasts than has been usual. What a boon to History teachers at High Schools. Just turn on the news and ask questions from the class, and/or ask the class to simply comment.

Then, in Sociology class ask questions about Taliban shooting of women in the football stadium in Afghanistan because they had dressed or behaved improperly in public. What does war and sexual repression have in common? What sex fantasies do ultra conservative Arab men indulge in? and, among each other, what fantasies do they share about Jewish, particularly Iraeli Jewish women? Interesting that we hear nothing about that. An American Muslim woman, a woman with an American doctorate in Psychiatry, had her views about Arab terrorists broadcast on Al Jazera. This news snippet was published on the front page of the Daily News in Los Angeles. To my knowledge that was published nowhere else in America. The American woman psychiatrist simply stated the obvious, that suicide terrorists are psychotic. What were we afraid of that the Al Jazera broadcasts were hushed up? What's to be afraid of?

Have to mull this one over and post again. Help, anyone?

Barry, I  believe that "snippet" was published in our paper. Isn't it a given that suicide terrorists are psycotic? Fanatacism that coddles a sense of unreality tips over to the ultimate suicide.

PS   Love your idea of CNN being shown in History classes. Even take on statement at a time and start the discussion. Critical thinking in high school. How refreshing!

That sure would be my opinion. I'd truly like to believe
that even Ayatolah Komeini would be against suicide
terrorists. Terrorists he might go for, but not the suicide
part.

Yeah, when I was in HS (1951 grad) the world
was blessedly asleep still recovering from WW2.
Today, "thinking" in HS must be considered
absolutely imperative!

Life and events so far removed from what I experience daily in Anytown, USA, are delivered unedited to my living room.  I am overwhelmed today.  CNN even spilled into church services this morning.  Hmmm.

Oops, sure don't want that. Yes, America
is still political Heaven, among other locales,
and frankly of all the liberties we have I most
love new freedoms enjoyed by women. My
private image preference is the news footage
I saw of a USA Woman fighter bomber pilot
on the deck of a carrier telling the nervous male
interviewer that she had an infant to care for at home.
As we speak isn't there a USA Black woman in space?

Thanks for Commenting.

to ask questions on television denotes trying to understand a thing, hello? What is there to understand?People can be full of hate,to be psychotic par se is to have a deep and uncontrollable hate for something,to be extreme in its excecution and to continue it as a quest.I think we are all at the stage now where trying to get inside the heads of these people is futile, they love what they do,and lets be honest,in war, warmongers and politicians love the power to maim and kill,to make people poor and to watch the starving die, stick them all on a dead moon in space and blow them to kingdom come, then I can feel what its like to find joy from other peoples suffering,I bet wed all love to do that, terrorists should be called sissies, then we wouldnt be frightened of them and theyd have no audience, lol, good idea that xxzoexx

Zoe it's marvellous how you are able
to give vent to your innermost feelings.
Not many of us can do that. I respect you
for having the skill and the willingness.
As I write this July 20 things are getting
worse and worser.
